Ahmedabad, in the state of Gujarat, the political bastion of Hindu nationalists. Rescued from the anti- Muslim pogroms of 2002, the Pathan sisters live under the protection of their father and grandmother in a neighbourhood on the outskirts of the city. As they grow up, the past catches up with them.
