This observational documentary bears some similarity to the film MICROCOSMOS. It starts with a poetic shot of a sunrise. Nature wakes up. The poetry of enormous beauty suddenly shifts to the poetry of ugliness. The images of lovely birds and insects are replaced with the massive dumping of city garbage. Rats and mice are running around, the garbage rots, the swamp next to it hosts water snakes. The city discards its garbage, but it becomes a home for many different beings. The newborn mice are fed by mothers, young birds are gurgling in their nest, the day is passing. This non-verbal documentary speaks with its images and is accompanied by an unobtrusive classical tune. The rising of a huge moon brings the shadows of night. Life continues in its more concealed form. The huge garbage bulldozers are making space for the new leftovers to come. At the end of the day, the daily events are summed up – who was eaten by whom, who survived one more struggle. Life goes on.
