MILLION DOLLAR PIGEONS is the most exciting and prestigious pigeon race on the planet. The winner will forever hold a place in the hall of fame and their pigeon will be sold for a fortune. This is the race every pigeon fancier wants to win but to do so you need years of experience and the gut to take large economic risks.

The Million Dollar Lofts in South Africa is the focal point of this film. Over 10,000 birds are sent here and the Million Dollar Team must train these feathered athletes into navigating machines, capable of flying 8 hours in scorching hot weather. The stories of our challengers, who come from the four corners of the globe, will flow through these lofts. There will be fanciers from the townships of Johannesburg willing to risk it all for glory. We will travel as far as Saudi Arabia where rich Saudi Princes bathe in opulence, to America where competition is part of their makeup and to Belgium where pigeon racing is a national sport.

Each of our protagonists will bring their own charisma and temper to this competition. However, before we witness the great battle of the sky we will learn all the intricacies of the sport, coloured with anecdotes of pigeon war heroes and genetic specimens. Pigeon racing has evolved from a hobbyist’s sport to a multi million-dollar industry. From the vast pigeon fairs in America to ludicrous auctions in Belgium and the Royal Pigeon Lofts in London, the pigeon crusade really is booming.

This documentary, which involves a high staked race and fierce competition will be constructed using a medley of interviews, observational footage, incredible ariel footage of pigeon racing and narrated sequences to explain and enrich the story of the pigeons.
